A landscape architect friend of mine needed some 3d geolocated models near the intersection of New York Avenue NW and 15th St. SW in the Washington DC area. So I used Sketchup to do the geomodeling and Adobe Photoshop to create the textures for the buildings.
A geolocated model, is an object that has the identification of a real-world geographic location and the technique for building these objects is called geomodeling.
Geomodeling is the process of creating small and efficient 3d models for use in Google Earth, Google Maps or any 3d modeling package, by using aerial photography, Google Maps street view, and your own photographs.
These combined images will be used to create photo textures that will be placed on the faces of your objects inside Sketchup or any other 3D modeling package. The images can add depth and more realism to your buildings while keeping file sizes small and efficient.
The following images are a sample of some of the buildings I created for that area in Washington DC.
